Summer Favourites

Summer is drawing to a close, although it certainly doesn't feel like it in Auckland. The days seem to just be starting to warm up now. Summer is my favourite time of the year-the fashion, the fruit, visiting the beaches when they're at their best. I love it all. Here's what I've been loving over the Summer from beauty to fashion accessories and some miscellaneous extras. Be sure to check back later on as you'll be able to win some of these products.

Beauty

Neutrogena Beach Defense Sun Spray*-Pictured is the sunscreen version of this product as I've now used the sun spray up. You spray this directly on to the skin and can leave it to dry on its own or rub it in yourself, either way it dries pretty fast. You aren't left with the sticky, sunscreen feeling either-major bonus! The spray and sunscreen both have a lovely tropical scent. It is an SPF50 product too so I've not been badly burnt at all this Summer.

Essie Nail Colour in Watermelon and Set in Stones-When it comes to nails in Summer we all want something fuss free, which usually means it'll dry faster and last longer on the nails. Well, Essie's polishes do a pretty good job in both those departments. They have such an array of fun Summer brights but it's these two polishes above that I've been wearing the most. Honourable mention has to go to Mint Candy Apple as well.

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayons in Peach On The Beach and Orange Punch-Like nails, in Summer lips call for something fuss-free. Bring in the lip crayons which are super easy to apply. These Bourjois offerings are creamy, pigmented and fairly long-wearing. Orange Punch leaves a subtle stain behind once it wears away so you don't need to touch this up as often.

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler-If you've got longer hair and it's prone to become knotty or tangled in Summer (thanks sea), then you need one of these in your lives. I like to use this after washing my hair too to get all the tangles out pre blow-wave. This compact styler in particular is great as it comes with a cover so the bristles don't get caught on things in your handbag. It's not as bulky as the original tangle teezers too so it will take up less space in your bag. I'd highly recommend picking up one of these if you don't already own one.

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub-This sweetly scented scrub smells divine. If you're prone to dry skin on your arms or legs then this is perfect. Combine this with a body butter and you have the perfect hydration combo.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Poppy Paradise-Blusher is one of the first products to disappear from my face, particularly on humid Summer days. Josie Maran's cheek gelees are a total game changer. They apply quite creamily and then set. These also don't emphasise pores or add too much of a sheen to the cheeks which earns it bonus points in my books. Poppy Paradise is particularly long-wearing and I only notice slight fading around the four to five hour mark. Impressive stuff.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray-Surf Spray featured in a post last week. In a nutshell, it leaves you with instant, beachy-waves. Its lightweight formula means the spray doesn't weigh your hair down and you aren't left with hair that feels gritty, which some salt sprays can do.

Illamasqua Pure Pigment in Ore-Bronzed pigment perfection. You can wear this over other eyeshadows or on its own. Pigments are perfect when you want to add more sparkle to your eye makeup without having to wear a loose glitter.

Fashion

Jelly Sandals-The nineties favourite made a comeback last year and when I saw glittery jelly sandals in Cotton On I just had to buy some. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with these shoes now though after spotting them on kids half my age(!!). Nonetheless I still wore these fairly frequently over Summer and they were so comfortable.

Midi Rings, pictured are an assortment from Diva and Topshop-There used to be a time when I went all out with jewellery. Nowadays I'm quite happy with a simple necklace, rings and the odd bracelet. These midi rings are simple, chic and can be worn alongside virtually everything.

Karen Walker Atomic Sunglasses-These weren't strictly a Summer purchase but they've certainly needed to be whipped out on many a sunny day recently. I love these frames and the cut out sections at the top seem to be a nod to the limited edition gold filigree glasses Karen Walker released a couple of years back. These exact glasses don't seem to be online anymore but these are similar.

Miscellaneous

Looking For Alaska by John Green-This is one of those books that I couldn't put down and haven't really been able to stop thinking about since. If you were a fan of The Perks of Being a Wallflower then you'll like this book. It centres around teenage misfits in a boarding school and what happens in the aftermath of a tragedy. It is brilliantly written, I've already started looking through it again.

She & Him Volume 3+Modern Vampires of the City by Vampire Weekend-Now neither of these albums are particularly new but after playing Lorde's album one too many times, I was looking for music I had not heard. These albums are both great, She and Him's latest volume of songs is possibly my favourite of their three albums and Vampire Weekend just seem to get better and better.
